My Goal with truffle shuffle was to create a visual representation of dancing that would beg the viewer to join in. I wanted to make dancing look fun and accessible. Throughout my semester I made friends with some break dancers and my eyes were opened to the diversity of moves available at my disposal. I had several very large and difficult to realize concepts for the video involving a long continuous shot and cycling cameramen/dancers that would have taken the viewer "inside the cypher" but my plans proved too elaborate to execute with no budget and the time restraint of the semester. What I have made amounts to a prototype of what I would still like to accomplish for this song. There are elements where the synchronicity between music and visual subject is spot on and areas it could still be improved. I'd like to have done more with reflections and mirrors both in footage and in post processing. I included shots of close friends and myself goofing off doing break dance moves. I hope the video is fun to watch and not too chaotic. One of the challenges of trying to shoot a dance video, I reviewed michael jacksons complete works to prep, is that there is a sense at times that all the dance moves have been used up. At best maybe i thought I could put together some of the old moves in a new combination that would be relatively original. This reduplication of moves across videos and in dancing is represented in the overlay of footage filmed of a monitor monitoring the footage being captured to create p.i.p. effects. The angles and moves I displayed are not 100% original but at least I was lost for close comparison to the style. I like how it almost appears the floating opaque imagery is some kind of device pheal is manipulating in the opening shot like a floating touch pad.
